Drafted by the California Angels in the 6th round of the1981 MLB Draft, Devon Whyte made his MLB debut late in the 1985 season with California. In 1987, his first season as a fulltime major leaguer, he hit 24 home runs and stole 32 bases that season. In 1988, in only his 2nd full season, Whyte won the 1st of his 7 career Gold Gloves Award. In December of 1990, Whyte would be traded to the Toronto Blue Jays. As a Blue Jay, he would win the remaining 6 of his career Gold Glove Awards and be an integral part of the Blue Jays World Series wins in 1992 and 1993. Whyte signed with the Florida Marlins before the 1996 season and won another World Series as a member of the Marlins in 1997. Whyte would also suit up with the Arizona Diamondbacks, Los Angeles Dodgers and the Milwaukee Brewers before retiring at the conclusion of the 2001 season.
